I’ve lived in the Akron area for almost 40 years now. During that time I’ve had the privilege of working with some extremely talented singers, songwriters, and musicians. Many of these players would put the latest crop of corporate sponsored, cookie cutter “talent” that we hear on the radio to shame. In fact if someone were to pool this talent I think we could give Motown a run for their money. Right here in little ol’ A-town.

Here’s some audio that should have been posted a long time ago. Back in ‘05 I created some jingles for a local pizza shop called Pizza Bogo (buy one get one). One of the things I liked about them was that they focused on international pizzas. Of course anything ethnic captures my attention and I happily scarfed down the Greek and Hawaiian varieties because good research is the heart of a successful project.

The twins came by to drop some funk on me last night. Their latest demo is titled Groovlax. This is some of the hardest, thrash funk you’ve ever heard. So if you’ve never been “experienced” you may want to sneak up on these tracks from the back. Cause if you were to catch a full frontal assault without your flack jacket it could be curtains for you. At the very least you’ll come away thinking that the tame, corporate oriented, pop music you thought you liked suddenly has no taste (or smell). And we like our funk to STANK! . . . right? Here are a couple of samples (remixed 8/15/08):

Yeah well…who doesn’t?
The twins recorded this on their spankin’ brand new hard disk recorder. It’s a Zoom HD16 I believe. A pretty nice box once you get the hang of it. They dropped the guitar, bass, vocal and drum tracks onto my Macintosh. Then I mixed it down and added some
instrumentation in Logic. As usual I spend an inordinate amount of time dicking around with it so hopefully it’s not too overproduced.
Bottom line . . . finished! On to the next one.
